Pathways to Graduation Queens
WE EMPOWROAR!

Pathways to Graduation Queens is a New York City Department of Education program that provides free High School Equivalency classes across the five boroughs, to young adults ages 17½ - 21. 

Our Vision:

We envision an inclusive and affirming learning community in which:

  • We value and honor our students’ cultural, academic and linguistic diversity

  • Our staff models a collaborative spirit that prioritizes open communication, trust, and student need

  • Our staff members know their students well and support them to make future-oriented decisions 

  • Our students are resilient self-advocates who are prepared to navigate complex challenges

Our Mission:

To achieve our vision, Pathways to Graduation staff members will…

  • Cultivate affirming relationships with students, parents and partners and develop targeted interventions in pursuit of positive academic, social emotional, and post-secondary outcomes

  • Provide rigorous and relevant academic & CTE courses that prepare students for college and high-demand technology focused careers

  • Support students in the development of academic and personal behaviors that reflect hard work, integrity and resilience

School Wide Learning Norms

  • Keep going. Reflect on your setbacks, and set new goals. 

  • Trust is a 2-way street. Be willing to give and receive help. Ask for support to keep growing.

  • Advocate for yourself and for each other.

  • Be open-minded.  Respect other people’s perspectives and experiences.

  • Be present. Be aware that how you show up in spaces  impacts those around you. Turn off and tune in

 

Individuals enrolled in a high school equivalency program are those who: 

  • Found that traditional high school settings do not accommodate their needs 

  • Decided to “drop out” of traditional high school  

  • Newly migrated to the country

Pathways to Graduation Queens offers: 

  • ESL and Spanish bilingual preparation for the high school equivalency diploma (also known as the GED)

  • Supportive services and accommodations for students with disabilities and Individual Learning Plans (IEP's)

  • Social Emotional Learning (SEL)

  • Career and Technical Education (CTE) in Graphic Design & Technology, Dental, and Medical

  • Technology Education and Learning Support (TEALS) in Computer Science

  • One-on-one and group counseling 

  • Paid internships 

  • Rolling admission  

  • Instruction for ALL reading and language levels 

  • Breakfast and/or lunch are provided at some sites to eligible students 

  • Metrocards for all eligible students 

  • College & Career Readiness available for all students

  • Immigration advocacy services available
